Principal Psychologist

Director and Principal Psychologist for MPC, Vinicio Herrera has a Masters in Psychology and has over 25 years experience in providing psychological services to individuals, couples, adolescents and children to improve the quality of their lives.

Experience

Vinicio has established a distinguished career as a consulting, counselling psychologist and supervisor. He is endorsed in the specialist area of counselling psychology and is an accredited supervisor of the College of Counselling Psychologists. He is also an accredited supervisor to both Psychologists in training and fully registered Psychologists.

Vinicio was an Honorary Associate with Macquarie University from 2004 to 2008 and worked in collaboration with the Department of Psychology to provide appropriate training/supervision opportunities for post-graduates.

Areas of Expertise

He has worked intensively in the medico-legal arena of worker’s compensation, motor vehicle accidents and criminal law/family law, providing medico-legal reports and expert witness opinions in court. Vinicio has held positions in both the public and private sectors such as the Department of Community Services and Rivendell Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit.

Vinicio has been part of the Transcultural Sub-Committee in NSW, and has provided clinical consultation and assessment in his capacity as a bilingual clinician to people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Vinicio also has provided mentoring to executives to optimise their personal qualities and to leverage their strengths to achieve their professional goals.

He has conducted lectures in the field of mental health for the Sydney South West Medicare Locals (now known as Primary Health Networks). He has a special interest in depression, pain management, trauma, anxiety and child/family relationship issues.
